Dear Friends,
FROM: Faria Gabriel
Monday, August 20,
2012 11:17 AM
Ladislao,
This the draft I sent out at 11:47 am yesterday from our meeting
which finished at 10:30 am.
It is still been edited for accuracy by the rest of the team but
hopefully you all should have something to send out today sometime.
I have suggested that as opposed to trying to correct all the facts,
it may make more sense to remove any areas of concern and focus on what our
goal is;
1) inform the old boys that there will be a
mass on the 6th of Oct
2) there is supposed to be
"something" on the mount after
3) We are suggesting that it maybe an opportunity
for the old boys to get together and to host some events on that weekend.
4) We will have a meeting this Friday at 5pm at
the Trinidad Union Club so this can be ventilated and hopefully decisions made
on what events and who will take responsibility for organising the respective
items.
5) We have started a Facebook group which will
be a resource for the old boys to use to keep up to date with what’s going on
and also post the various events, pictures etc.
6) Should we use the opportunity to recognise
the monks and provide them with an appropriate gift from the Old boys.
That’s all I think would really like to communicate at this time.
Hopefully it will be sorted out today.

Joe,
I suggest we remove anything we are not comfortable with instead
of trying to correct them now.
The goal should be to get the communication out and by Friday we
can put more meat on the details if they are available.
If I am going to be involved in any activity I would like to see
a proper budget prepared and presented for approval before we proceed with any
event.

Winston,
I want some clarification on
1. The "Centenary Mass / lunch (FREE) 10.00 AM - 2.00 PM
courtesy MSB" Am I correct in assuming this as a MSB event and that the
monks will be providing lunch free?
2. The function to honour the monks (please don't say priests)
You have suggested a budget of 1200 CIF: How do you propose to satisfy the
other possible costs, including duty, customs brokerage etc. and the
possibility that we may have to rent venue, print programmes and pay performers
even provide refreshments? You need to be clear that we need a committed
minimum number of participants paying by a definite cut-off date, who must pay
enough to cover all of the expenses and the language of the communication must
be clear on this.

Guys,
This is my short version.
Please check for errors, omissions or make any recommendations.
My goal is to keep the message as short as possible but to focus
on key points which will hopefully tweak interest.
Please join Facebook and the group so we can use that as the
place to start the general discussion.
Dear Abbey Old boys,
October 6th will mark a major day for the Mount when it
celebrates 100 years. ETC?? not sure what?
A number of old boys have suggested that this offers us a unique
opportunity to bring together the Old Boys from different eras who have shared
this common link.
We would like to get feedback on how many of you all can attend
the celebration mass on Saturday 6th Oct at the Mount.
We would also like to use the opportunity to plan a number of
activities around this occasion to allow us to meet and rekindle old
friendships.
We will be having a lime on Friday 24th August 5pm at the
Trinidad Union Club to allow everyone to share their ideas and confirm their
participation for this auspicious occasion.
Below is a list of possible activities which have been discussed
up to now, we are hoping that as a group we can develop a schedule for the
weekend and work together to make this occasion a truly memorable one.
