Dear Friends,
The celebration is over.

Date: 11 October, 2012 7:56:49 AM EDT
Hola Sarkis,
Today, I would like to welcome home back to the
Club our brother - Angel Gomez Ramos, Mt. 72-74,
Angel is the GM for Caterpillar Dealer in Jamaica.
It’s has been 40 years since he made contact, then
somehow he found El Ambassador Salvador, ha! ha! jejejej,
Please do send Angel a note, he would like to hear
from good friends.
His email address - angelmgomezster@gmail.com
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
Glen Schaefer Gabe, I thank you for all your efforts in recognizing Cutty for all
that he has given to our Mt Boys. I truly would have like to be present but
other priorities took precedence. Contributing to the effort was not a second thought
for me, I was just happy to see someone out there appreciated cutty enough to
awake the other as to how much he did for us. Thank you for all your efforts.
Peace.
Gabriel Faria Glen, he deserved it, all the old boys have some connection with him.
Even though his body is frail his mind is still sharp. I hope he gets to enjoy
the gift.
Glen Schaefer I enjoyed the TV clip and the
photos and like I previously posted, his body may be frail but that look when
he engaged my mind as a young man I will never forget. As young men he
challenged our minds to do right never mattered to his if it was unorthodox. Message
was always challenge yourself to do your best. Once again, Gabe, thanks for
giving me an opportunity to express my gratitude to Cutty. (No disrespect never
addressed him as Father Cuthbert, to me Cutty had all the warmth and love when
I speak of him)
Gabriel Faria I feel the same way about him too, from the success in terms of the
money we collected from over 50 old boys I think the feeling is shared by many.
Comments from our time with Cutty yesterday: while his body maybe frail,
his mind is sharp and he still has an amazing sense of humour. We all talked
for about 20- 30 minutes. He also gave a short speech and a blessing to all the
Old Boys. We also donated the gifts for the Monks to the Abbot who also gave a
short speech and blessed the Old Boys. Even
Odo came. A video was done of the presentation, which will edited this week and
I will try to post it on online so all of you all could share in the joy we
felt.

LAST
DAY OF TERM
Papalou squeeze Castro (the big one, Reinaldo) stones in the
fight outside Form IV.
Monkey Toenail Gonsalves and Small World Azar was sitting under
the mango rose tree with Muscle Toe Gransaul eating mango chow --pepper for so!
-- when they hear the confusion and run to see what was going on. The boys was
in a ring around the two who was fighting and was shouting: “Heave! Heave!”.
Castro had Papalou catch in a lock-neck and was trying to butt him at the same
time.
Papalou face was turning purple because the lock-neck was
pressing his throat and he thought he was going to strangle so he had to put on
the stones-squeeze. Some of the boys say it was because he was a Frenchboy from
Guadaloupe and French people was stink. They always used to tell that to
Papalou but he didn’t used to take them on at all. Besides, the Venezuela boys
used to fight stink too. One time Castro brother, the middle one, Pedro, nearly
poke out Mafasi eye in a fight down by the apiary. But that was after Mafisi
push he finger up the boy nosehole. In that fight they kick over a hive and the
bees sting them up so bad the two of them end up in the infirmary. Boy, them
Pagnol used to fight stink for so. But they was brave.
Anyhow, the boys was all shouting “Heave! Heave!” and making one
big set of noise. They was making so much noise that when Papalou grab Castro
stones and Castro start to bawl you nearly couldn’t hear him. But he had to let
go the lock-neck quick because the stones must have been hurting him real bad,
boy. Well, he fall down on the ground, rolling and bawling and holding on to
his stones and Papalou just stand up there with his mouth buss and he shirt
tear up with blood all over the place.
Suddenly: “Fweep! Fweeeep!!” ….Whistle. ---Fardifonse coming. The
boys scatter like peas and by the time Scroongie --that is what the used to
call Fr. Ildefonse – well, by the time he come round the corner every man-jack
gone. Only Castro remain, lying on the ground, holding on to his stones,
crying. But he never tell on Papalou. He tell Ildefonse one of the boys kick a
football and it hit him “below the belly”, but he didn’t know which boy it was.
Papalou had make the mistake to cuss Castro mother. Well, he didn’t really cuss
she. All he tell Castro was: “you mudder…..!” but that was enough. If you say
anything about a Venezuela boy mother or sister is to look out. Trouble! Papalou
was lucky it was last day of term.
And you know what? Castro voice stay high, high, high after that;
-- or that is what they uses to say……

Hi Ladislao,
I noticed on the database it states that I have
asked to be removed from the mailing list.
Nothing could be further from the truth I very much
look forward to all the news.
Keep up the good work.
Just for the record I am a retired Airline (BWIA)
pilot living in Trinidad.

Subject: Re: Aqualads - Perhaps from '67 - '69
Nigel,
Ah, that photo brings back memories: I'm back in
the pool area, & can taste the chlorine (more like feel it sting your
eyes!), and can see Fr. Bernard giving out medals.
But, as far as I can remember, I never swam for
Aqualads; I think it was only after leaving MSB (late/end of '62?) that I began
swimming competitively; I certainly later competed against the Aqualads!
So, I can't be much help except to say that I agree
with the Farah & Mitchell suggestions (for #s 8 & 9). And would Bernard
Lange, RIP, have been involved then as coach, and so in the picture?
Incidentally, do the Old Boys' records have mention
of Bernard saving a life in that pool? He retrieved the unconscious fellow from
the deep end, and performed resuscitation. And he received a medal for that, I
believe from the Governor General (Sir Solomon Hochoy?) at Scout Headquarters
in St. Ann's. Not invited and not brazen enough to storm the ceremony, I stood
by the roadside and watched the hand over through the chain link fence. Man,
you've brought to mind some long-buried - but good - memories!
Keep well, & GB: I'll offer my attendance &
a prayer at 6pm Mass here in HK for you good folk...

Hi Nigel & Ladislao,
Both of you are to be greatly admired for your
current and past work and I have always asserted to this end, but please do me
a favour.
I am interested in hearing from you always, but put
me in as a "blind copy' when you send out.
I have received numerous emails from everyone
hitting the reply to all key and it just clogs up my in box.
As you will know there has been expansive emails on
MSB etc., which to be honest as I am far away in Australia is a little bit
academic.
So do me this favour and I will still appreciate
emails directly from you both.
Cheers and as mentioned before if you are ever in
Melbourne let me know.
Good luck, happy hunting and keep well in our
advancing days.
Tim.

and not to a group, editor)

As part of the 100 years Anniversary of MSB, I would like to reiterate
my sentiments to do a 'Sermon On The Mount Plaque' and dedicate it from the
Abbey School Alumni Association to include all the names of the Abbey School
Boys together with the Sermon and to be placed in an appropriate place on the
Mount. I already spoke with Glen Evelyn about his original idea to make such a
plaque and Glen McKoy, Nigel, Kazim, Joseph etc...your thoughts on this idea
are welcome for discussion... Hudson...

MSB friends and family, I am closing down the Abbey School Alumni
Association group I started since early 2009. I would like for us to be
together as one group. When Facebook changed, group members were not informed,
so we lost contact. I would like for us to bond on this group that Gabriel
Faria initiated for our celebrations this year. Let us keep the momentum going.
Boys from the other group repost your photos here. My sincere best wishes to
our continued success and participation. And thanks to all who keep the Boys
together - Ladislao, Don, Jon, Glen, and others.
A special thank you Salvador Coscarart, and Fr FatherHarold Imamshah for all the photos and postings on the goup.

I would like to let Ladislao Kertesz and Don
label the photos for the Newsletter/Blog. Let us make sure Nigel Boos get all the latest names and email
addresses. One important thing to remember, Facebook only serves those
connected to this social media. Don is not connected and a lot of people choose
not for their own personal reasons. So this group is serving only part of an Association for now. Also, remember Facebook keeps changing, and we do not know where
we will be with this group as time go by. So, enjoy and use while we
can....Blessings to all....Kazim

Kazim, Ladislao you can then download any picture
any of the old boys post on the group. This is the new era the members control
the content. I expect that we will need to moderate the posts if it gets out of
hand.

Father Harold can you kindly upload those photos
here like you and Salvador Coscarart did in
the other group?

Father Harold Imamshah 25 August 15:30
Don Goddard came to a Funeral at my parish Church
in Colfax, LA and after determining that my accent was indeed that of a Trini,
we got talking and once he told me that he was an Abbey School alumnus, I
shared with him my years as a Benedictine monk and as a former teacher at Abbey
School. In the space of 2 weeks, Don excitedly hooked me up with Salvador
Coscarat and a Callaloo soup over rice, with 2 other Trinis at his Baton Rouge
home. I already had met Salvador through Kazim's Mount facebook page and had
Salvador's pics on my tablet, so we all gloated over oldie Mount pics and I
answered all of their many questions about Fr. Cuthbert, Fr. Bernard, Fr.
Augustine, Fr.Chrysostom Leesing ... So, we do have the beginnings of a very
enthusiastic Louisiana Abbey School Connection (Nigel, you will remember it is
through Don's email report of this little reunion that we began to email each
other)
-------------------------------------
Kazim Abasali 25 August 15:23
Well said, Gabriel. It is to keep the association
alive, and the participation by the boys with their comments, photos, etc, that
is the lifeblood of the group. God bless!!!

Kazim Abasali 20 August 13:13
MSB boys kindly join my Facebook group of friends
please, those haven't as yet, that is. Blessings....Kazim
