Received in all its glory, Dave. Man, you are something else, oui!
Enjoy the ring. I'm sure it's going to raise eyebrows everywhere, and you can rightly say it's the only one of its sort.
Keep on going, Dave.
You're quite the man!

Note sending again --be sure to get the ring--please let me know if you were capable to pull the whole file up.-"bandit"
I am sending this to the four most important people that keep the mount saint benedict group together all over the world.
You may pass it on if you so desire.
You are invited to view David’s album. This album has 6 files.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
I, David Noel De Castro,(calypsonian.......songwriter........musician......author......MC......impresario) do hereby appoint myself as a Knight of the Round Table of Sir Knight Glen McCoy.
I will be known as Sir Knight Bandit AKA The Rebel Knight.
Sincere congratulations to all who did something to celebrate the centennial of the great Mount Saint Benedict College (OUR LADY OF EXILE)—
I have no affiliation with the present ABBOT or priests for I was a border student from 1944 to 1953.
However, I always wish them well and I have supported in new vestments for the new priest that were ordained a few years ago and I have just bought their new book,
Longing to Belong from Barnes and Noble for $40.00 U.S. (unlike those who have my book and sent no financial support)
I decided to do my own celebration for the centennial and become a full knight
(SEE ALL ATTACHMENTS) (I WAS ALREADY A TRUE KNIGHT THE LAST TIME WITH SWORD ON BOTH SHOULDERS--SEE CREDENTIALS)
I also designed and had made a special MOUNT SAINT BENEDICT power ring—
MSB which I will wear with pride at every function I attend I know by now you all must be saying "BANDIT" gone over the deep end.--but you just don't understand—
YOU CANNOT TAKE THE FUN OR THE DREAMER OUT OF ME OR GLEN MCCOY.
p.s. that is what I did---what did you do ????????
SINCERELY--"SIR KNIGHT BANDIT"--AKA "THE REBEL KNIGHT"

Re: Richards and Yearwood [don't mix them up]

Hi, Terrence,
Nice to hear from you.
I know for sure, that Guy Yearwood was shot in the Maracas River, not far from our home, also on the river.
Never knew him, though.
"Sambo" I certainly remember.
He was a nice, harmless sort of chap, friendly, but with a streak of mischief in him.
I have no idea how he died, other than Robbie suggesting that he was shot by the police. Perhaps that's true - I just do not know.
Hope you're keeping well.
With best wishes.
Nigel

Dear Nigel,
Robert Huggins is mixing up Richards/Sambo with Yearwood.
I knew both students well.
In 1962 Richards was in Form 1B with me, perhaps the same year he left Mount [have photograph to prove it] and Yearwood was a top class athlete who always smoked my St. Lawrence, Junior B team come Sports Day.
Yearwood left Mount around 1963 [have photograph to prove it].
In my time [59-65] Richards was one of many Black students at Mount, [have photographs to it] plus he was accepted by his peers; just ask Peter Tang.
I recall Richards being called Sambo, but his blackness didn't bother us.
During my time at Mount "Blackness" was synonymous with greatness, ....
Br. Vincent, PG Wilson, Vincent Brown, Serette, Howell, Robinson, Yearwood and at least two teachers, to name a few.
Sincerely,
Terrence

Hi Don,
Long time no talk.
Hope all is well with you.
Don, Nigel is correct concerning Sambo.
In fact he was the leader of the pack during the 1970 riots, and it was I who recognized him at that particular time.
Fortunately for me I always got on with him at Mount, and maybe that is why I was never accosted by any of the black power participants.
Unfortunately, he was shot by the police together with another MSB boy, Yearwood I think was his name.
His "student" name if I am correct was whitey, black as black you can get, and one heck of a runner.
Hope that helps,
Regards,
Robert

Glen Schaefer Gabe, I thank you for all your efforts in recognizing Cutty for all that he has given to our Mt Boys.
I truly would have like to be present but other priorities took precedent.
Contributing to the effort was not a second thought for me,
I was just happy to see someone out there appreciated cutty enough to awake the other as to how much he did for us.
Thank you for all your efforts.
Peace.
Gabriel Faria Glen, he deserved it, all the old boys have some connection with him.
Even though his body is frail his mind is still sharp.
I hope he gets to enjoy the gift.
Glen Schaefer I enjoyed the TV clip and the photos and like I previously posted,
His body may be frail but that look when he engaged my mind as a young man I will never forget.
As young men he challenged our minds to do right never mattered to his if it was unorthodox message was always challenge yourself to do your best.
Once again Gabe thanks for giving me an opportunity to express my gratitude to Cutty.
(No disrespect I never addressed him as Father Cuthbert, to me Cutty had all the warmth and love when i speak of him)
Gabriel Faria I feel the same way about him too, from the success in terms of the money we collected from over 50 old boys I think the feeling is shared by many.
Comments from our time with Cutty yesterday: while his body maybe frail, his mind is sharp and he still has an amazing sense of humour.
We all talked for about 20- 30 minutes.
He also gave a short speech and a blessing to all the Old Boys.
We also donated the gifts for the Monks to the Abbot who also gave a short speech and blessed the Old Boys, even Odo came grudgingly to get his gift.
A video was done of the presentation, which will edited this week and I will try to post it on online so all of you all could share in the joy we felt.

Hi Guys....
Getting some back and forth communications going.
Question: Were you a regular altar boy in assisting the monks in masses at the main altar or the side chapels at the main church?
I recall that Fr Augustine coordinated this effort.
I recall serving 2-3 masses on average per week.
Any interesting stories to share other than trying to drink the left over wine?......

Hans,
I'm passing this info on to Ladislao as well.
Good job.
Kazim - Hans has passed on a great piece of information here, about Fr. (now retired Abp.) Kevin Felix, an OB of the Abbey School.
Here he is in all his school-days' 1953 football glory, standing between Hans (the goalie) and Bro. Vincent (Sports Master).
Nigel
This would make a nice "Alumnus article".

Hi again;
Was browsing thru the Old Boys directory.
Saw Kevin Felix with whom I played soccer, attended the seminary for a while, and later met again at Notre Dame University.
Even though I don’t have an email address for him as yet, I found his bio at http://www.da-academy.org/daas_honorees_felix.html
He is Archbishop of St. Lucia (retired now I believe).
I’ll be trying to contact him and let you know.
Might be interesting ‘person of interest’ for the Alumni website.

I used to work in PA, in a place called "Farmer's Valley" doing a consulting job for Honeywell.
Now "retired" since 1999 and still seeking contracts.
Give me a call sometime.

Hans,
You're a giant!
Thanks very much for these new and revealing pictures of yourself.
I'm relaying them to Ladislao and I'm sure you'll see them again, soon in an upcoming Circular.
Laz, here are some new pics of another OB we've just "found".
Hans Hermans lives in Wayne, Pennsylvania.
He retired 12 years ago and still gets involved as a consultant in one area or another. (Care to elaborate, Hans?)

Thanks for the info Nigel;
I’ll try again, but will send each picture by itself.
I (we) live in Wayne, PA (near Philadelphia, USA).
I’ve been retired for about 12 years but am busier than ever before.
Still consult a bit for my sons whenever they have a problem with some computer program that ‘the old man’ still is able to give them advice about.
I include 2 pictures, one from the Trinidad days and one a year or so ago.
