Circular No 553

EDITORIAL

I am happy that I have established a record in the long history of “Mount Inside” – first published in 1964. My target of six issues for the school year now ended has been met but not without moments of anguish.

My thanks to a patient and accommodating printer on whose shoulder rests the responsibility for finally getting our journal published. Issue # 46 has been a rushed effort and my Co-ordinator and typist stood up beautifully to the pressures involved.

A special THANK YOU to Fr. Cuthbert who kept all of us on our toes. To you my faithful readers; Your interest in the magazine made my year extremely worthwhile.

Happy holidays
Hayden J.M. Valentine

The following was the comment written on the mimeographed paper.

Sept. 5/81

Note: To the editor.
As an “Old Boy” and in lieu of the Mount Outside; coupled with the kind thoughtfulness of Fr. Cuthbert; I have been receiving the Mount Inside, which, apart from the regularity of production, has given me once more an inside to my old school. My sincere congratulations, and may we see the same enthusiasm for the next term.
All the best from the frozen North.

Dear Friends,
I am going to make a short resume of my trip to TT.
Sunday 20th of May 2012, the fishing trip.
For the fishing trip we left early with Dennis Gurley and picked up Don Mitchell at his Guest house.
Next we arrived at the yacht club marina.
After looking at a few would be boats, all bigger than the actual one that we took.
After we down sized the boats we finally saw ours, jajaja
Took some time before all the few mariners got together for the trip.
We left the dock under a swelling sea.
Took the route just as on last year’s trip.
The goal was to got to ile de leau as the furthest, catch one fish per person on board.
Well this did not happen and I noticed that we did not meet any boats, either fishing or cruising.

Dear Winston,
My corrected version of your flyer is enclosed.
A picture of a boat, a beach, a dining room and a BBQ lime scene could add something to it.
The brochures which you have created look wonderful.
As I remember, it was Don Mitchell who first indicated that he was coming to Trinidad to attend a wedding and would like to meet with the Old Boys and then Ladislao responded by saying that he (Ladislao) wanted to take the opportunity to meet with him because he hadn't done so in several decades’ years.
It would be much more credible to describe the activities as taking place at this time because of their joint visits.
You need either to remove Ladislao's picture or get one of Don also.
In addition, a company cannot hold an AGM at will.
Doing so could cause problems and legal challenges in the future.
Notice in the proper form is required.
It seems that some of the current directors are unlikely to be available for the meeting on the date which Dennis suggested, after taking time away off to participate otherwise, which poses a problem as AGMS are normally held to suit the convenience of the majority of sitting directors.
One cannot assume of how many of the current directors will be willing to offer themselves for re-election if they are uncomfortable with the character and/or personalities of others whom offer themselves for election.
This must be handled with sensitivity and prudence and consequently remain as it was originally billed, simply as a meeting and we will see how it develops.
It is important that you act quickly and get this back to Ladislao right away.
Sincerely,
Joe

Greetings Laszlo
I also prepared a P Point with the aim of getting a small group to think it over and then go to the Board with a structured plan of action.
It will be a virtual project and when you are settled kindly review and comment on PP.
It’s always a pleasure hosting you,
Regards
Winston

Dear Winston
I read the brochure; it would be good to look into.
But as the association is set up and since we want to get a go ahead it is necessary to have two guys volunteer in the presentation.
Can you get anyone to accompany you???
This is to make it easier to have it approved.
What are the plans of implementing your “no smoke” agenda???
Maybe we should talk on how to do this implementation procedure before I present it formally.
Thank you for the excellent help you gave me,
God bless and my best wishes for the family
Ladislao

Came across this video
In case you have not seen it.
It was apparently made last year.
First, it shows the guesthouse that many of us passed by at least 1000 times during our walk down to or up from the playing field.
I suspect that many of us never went inside.
I had the opportunity to enjoy it a few times when my family staid there.
Secondly, it shows the church and the chapels where many of us served mass for the monks.
I was a regular altar server to the point that I was given a book in recognition of my services.
By the way, how many of us helped ourselves to the wine left over after the mass?
May God bless us all and our families.
PS – Please share with your contacts who still are interested in our MSB heritage, brotherhood and knighthood.

Jesus’ first words to the apostles after the Resurrection were “PEACE BE WITH YOU”. And today we answer in the “new” mass as we did in the Latin mass 50 years plus ago “ET CUM SPIRITU TUO”/ “AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT”. Please let us remember that all the good work being done by MSB alumni comes under the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Please, let us be kind, peaceful with and love one another as we proceed in our joint journey to meet one another whenever possible on earth and rejoice in each other’s company in heaven. May the Father bless those who have prepared the activities, those who will be attending and those who would have loved to attend but cannot make it.
Let us all heed St Paul’s words to the Galatians:
13. For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
14 For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."
15 But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another.”

My Dear Brothers,
We look forward to a greater understanding of who we are, and where we are going as ASAA, where the greater body of this organization, its alumni comes from around the world, these meetings seriously means a lot to some of us, on the outside.
We feel that time is essential, as our membership grows older each year.
We have no time for fault finding or blaming, we need to get certain things done.
I believe the Knights have accomplished every mission so far, they took on as a private group, better known as the Club, our successes are already recorded and are happening as we speak.
We hope to rebuild certain lost projects asap, in these meetings we will know thru our Leader, Mr. Ladislao, of what is workable and what is not.
Who is interested and who is not, I think that's pretty simple, our missions are exceedingly difficult, We must be One, for the greater ASAA, all over the World.
Now we have to wait, to hear what our missions will be.
Thank you Gentlemen, Long Live The Mount, Long Live the Realm, Long Live the Club,
Glen McKoy./ (Independent reporter for "The Writers of Knights.)

Nigel,
We will have a ASAA meeting during the visits.
Anyone can offer themselves to serve in our steads and remove the incompetents from our highly paid sinecures.
Some are armchair critics who only know the language of blame and fault finding; such like these only make commesse and cuchoor
They don't build anything.
They sure know how to wilt effort and initiative, without doing much themselves.
Sincerely,
Joe

Joe,
As you can see, some (i.e. at least one) of the OB's are rightly concerned about the lack of communication in this important exercise.
The ASAA (or whatever the current name happens to be) seems to forget that not all its adherents live in Trinidad and cannot make immediate changes to scheduled plans without seriously inconveniencing themselves.
Case in point right here.
I agree / admit that this visit from Ladislao is very important, and for this reason alone
I would suggest that some earlier warning as to proposed plans might have been given to everyone, so that adequate preparations could have been made to attend at one / all of the planned events.

Glen,
How the fuck can these guys in T'dad organize all this and then give us last minute notice?
I am just back from an 8 day Western Caribbean cruise and sure would have put it off to attend if I knew in advance.
I am going to check airfare to T'dad and will attend if it's reasonable.
