Como siempre Attyla hiciste tu home work, es verdad que no guardan relacion entre los dos lo dije para usar una comparacion.
Entonces te vas a radicar en Ecuador un tiempito y volar por esos lares? Fixed or Rotary wing?
Saludos y cuidate
Oscar
As always Attila you did your homework.
Then are you going to live in Ecuador for some time and fly in the country?
Fixed or Rotary wing?
Are you enjoying your retirement then?
You took the family with you, I guess?
What did you do with the House in California? Did you rent it?
Well my friend continue to enjoy the opportunity that gives us life and keep on flying, I had to hang up the gloves, sold my aircrafts before moving and had not the opportunity to renew your license here or fly and I am missing it, but sometimes you have to make sacrifices in the search for a better quality of life.

My Friends,
It was our pleasure having the "Old Folks" :) :) :) to our home for that evening.
Special thanks to Joe for the Fish Broth and Yaba (Paul) for the ingredients.
Nigel for the collection of memorabilia.
Who could not come missed a great evening just to be there I hope that it can become an annual event that we could all look forward to.

My Dear Brother Ladislao,
"DITTO" what he (Glen) said, (Yeah, I know, sometimes he's a little 'mouthy') ~
Hey! Glen, you know I'm kidding and mean that in the nicest way Winking smile ...!
A really BIG Thank~You to David and is better half 'Debbie', for being such wonderful hosts to us all.
Opening up their home, and in doing so, their hearts to us, doing such a terrific job, having us all and treating us like Family in their home.
Then Later on in the evening the warm ambiance of the little kerosene lanterns, lighting up the remainder of that evening outside under the canopy, while we sat, chatted and reminisced.
Like my son, Michael and his two boys Lorenzo(10) and Christian(9) my two Grandsons, and I, we had a most wonderful time.
Also the opportunity of meeting more 'Abbey School Old Boys'.
By the way Debbie, Lorenzo and Christian really enjoyed their very first taste of 'Home Made' Coconut Ice ~cream!
(As did I ...!)
I know that it may also sound strange to some when I say: "I Love ALL of my MSB brothers" but it is true.
I can't speak for others, and I will never try to, I can only speak for myself.
But when 'My' memories take me back to all of my years that I lived "that part of my life" - "My Life" - with, and amongst all of those boys, that were all there during the same time/years, while I was attending The Abbey School, Mount St. Benedict, to me, those boys were [all of them] "My brothers".
I never met you, Ladislao, (at least not in person) but, to me, it's like I know you.
(Of course, I have seen pictures of you)  Strange thing isn't it, that when we think of any of our brothers, we remember them as they were, as boys, that is how we picture them in our minds eye.
That day, that very memorable day, when I received your very first e~mail saying the words:
"Cornel, thank GOD we've found you..."
They were some of the most beautiful, heart~warming words that I had heard in my whole life!
It was akin to breathing new life into me, reopening doors and windows in my mind that were closed for so long.
Like revisiting a treasured place and opening all the windows and doors, letting in the fresh air, after being shut for too long a period of time, being away.... for too long, from a place where you loved being.
Rekindling memories that you thought you would never revisit again...
Thank God for the feeling of belonging again and being introduced to so many, many caring "Brothers".
I thank all those who were involved in pointing you in my direction from the bottom of my heart!
Strange expressing, isn't that? ... Shouldn’t that expression sound better if it were: 'from my whole heart' ...hmmm...!
By the way, what year did 'You' leave/what year did your life at The Abbey School come to an end?
You see, it isn't really "What Year did you "Leave" the Abbey School, But more like:
"What Time did your Life at The Abbey School come to an end?"
I truly and sincerely miss my life up at The Abbey School.
(Again I cannot, I am not able to, nor do I want to speak for any "of my other 'Brothers')
I was definitely not an "A" student, though "I KNOW" that I could have done "A LOT Better" than I did.
I also know that I was more than likely not the "Best behaved boy", and I am also pretty sure that there were lots of better "Achievers" than I.
But I did "Participate" as best as I could, did my share of good deeds as a live in class mate and as a good "brother" to my 'other brothers'.
I feel that I especially looked out for the "little Brothers".  (I was kind of big for my age, and did NOT like bullies, especially the ones that preyed on the little brothers.
Hell (forgive the usage here) but I was the "Sacristan" in the Chapel for the last couple of years.
Taking care of/keeping the "eternal Lamp Burning (was one of my responsibilities) as well as putting out the 'correct vestments (in the correct order) as the priest got vested for saying the mass.
Putting out the "Wine and Hosts" for the Consecration for Holy Communion.
Making sure (stealing flowers) that there were flowers on the Altar during special feast days.
And, I remember that some of the little brothers knew where to find me, when they were scared of getting beat up, and come and look for me to protect them and stay with me while I was doing my duties in the Chapel.
Anyway, though I may have some bad memories during my life/my time at The Abbey School, I have no regrets whatsoever.
Actually, there is one.
I had some friends that I considered to be my 'best friends', and I have tried to reach out some of them, but they have not reached back, but that's okay.
We all have choices to make and are all entitled to our opinions.
But, all things said, I still "Love" all of my Mount St. Benedict Brothers, even the ones I never had the pleasure of meeting.
I have met a number of them during our little reunions, and they are, every one of them, Great Brothers...
Ladislao, I miss my regular dose of the "Circulars", I hope your health is good, and same with your loved family members.
By the way, I have often spoken of the honour of carrying "The Abbey School" flag, I had asked some of my Brothers, if they knew we had an Abbey School flag/banner, and they didn't know that we did.
You see, I often 'bragged' about having the honour of carrying Our Abbey School Flag (as in the Olympics) during an athletic competition in the south somewhere.
This was because I won the School Trophy one year for having the highest total amount of points one year during one of our Athletic Sports Day and have my name engraved on a Large School Shield as a result of this, but had no proof.
You see I had lost/misplace my old Abbey School pictures.
Well, I found them! and there I am, in bold black and white, carrying the school banner, amongst other school pictures.  ... Yeah!...
Enough chatter, greetings to all,
I remain, Forever Loyal
Sincerely,
Cornel A. de Freitas
Class of '64.
Keep up the good work, we appreciate all that you do!

My Dear Big Brother Mr. Ladislao Kertesz,      (Thank You Bandit.)
I am sending this email out to our best representative, our great editor and leader.
We believe in something that you gave back to us, the Pride and Memory, the Faith and Destiny of our Alumni, we only exist as a group, because of you.
Bandit, you are really testing my brain.
At this moment I'm wondering what is happening with the Circular.
How is our dear and great brother Mr. Ladislao doing, whatever is happening, I want him to know that we are here, if we can be of service in any way, please do not to hesitate to call upon us, whatever the reason you are never alone.
This message is to you from so many hermanos & amigos.
I have only faith that we will see a Circular from you in due course.
Long Live the Circular, Long Live Our Great Leader, Long Live The Club,  Three Cheers for the MOUNT. // God Bless You All.
Your faithfully to this Club that is so real,   Best regards mi amigos, Adios Glen McKoy.

Dear Ladislao,
I had a look on the MSB site the other day and noticed that you had posted my thoughts.
This is much appreciated. Of course there was no reply. Well I tried.
Religion and God is not on the minds of people today, easy to tell...it is evident in their conversation....'out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks'.
We are given a choice and are dignified in being allowed to make that choice......Perfect love.
Perfect justice also means that we live with the consequences.
All the same the respect and dignity continues.... I guess the purpose of the site is for old boys to reminisce and catch up. I totally understand that.
I still enjoy having a look at the photos and hearing some of those names from the past.
Thank you again  ...
David de Boehmler.

Hi Ladislao,
Maggie and I got married on 22 April 1972 at Molyneux in St Kitts, in the little Catholic Church that my grandfather built for the village.
On Sunday we set off on our 40th anniversary cruise on Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas.
We leave from St Maarten on our anniversary date 22 April and end up in Barcelona on 5 May.
In between, we'll visit Tenerife, Seville, Gibraltar, Cartagena, and Mallorca.
We plan to spend a few days sightseeing, then I return to Anguilla on Wednesday 9 May.
Maggie goes on from Spain to visit family and friends in England for a month or so.
It is a bit of a worry, as I have a Peahen sitting on 15 eggs that are due to hatch on the 3rd May.
I would have liked to be home for the event, as I have a family of Kili-kili hawks nesting behind the air conditioner in my library.
I expect they will have chicks of their own that they will be feeding!
My house-sitter is moving in on Saturday.
My plan is to give him some tips on making the Peachicks safe until I return.
I only hope I do not come back to find a lonely and distraught Peahen mother.
I'll make sure to send some photos of the cruise.
Keep well.
Don [in Tortola, BVI]

RE: Museum Stuff
FROM: Michael D'Ornellas
Friday, July 6, 2012 4:54 PM

Dear Nigel,

To set the records straight concerning the Museum, both Gary and myself have not had a meeting with the Abbot to discuss the matter to date.
We are hoping to do as soon as possible.
Gary tried to set up a meeting with me I think last week but unfortunately our time won't mesh.
I guess a meeting will be in place by next week for the latest, and after this meeting we should be ready to approach the Abbot with our proposal.
We will keep you posted.
Thank you very much for sending the exhibits .... I have to collect them from Joe.
Best regards
Michael.

Good stuff, Joe.
I'm relieved that the materials have arrived safely into Trinidad. I hope you didn't have to pay extra customs duty or such-like.
I also agree that there should be a legal document drawn up, or at least a "Letter of Understanding", of some sort, to ensure that the items remain the property of the Old Boys Association, come what may.
These items were donated, in good faith, by Terrence Ferreira and Trevor Evelyn, and this should be borne in mind.
Perhaps, if I might suggest, Dennis Gurley could help in drawing up a simple document for signature by Fr. Abbot and the Old Boys Association.

I'm sure that Specs and Gary must be considering this also, but it would be a good idea too, to invite all the OB's of MSB to send in their memorabilia for eventual inclusion into the proposed Museum.

(Laz - I guess that Arthur Knaggs' OASIS documents might also be included in the information pile being prepared for general inclusion in the Museum.)

On this matter - I wonder who now has the President's Trophy that was presented to the student who, annually, in the estimation of the boys than attending the Abbey School, represented the ideals of the school?
It would be nice to have this also sent in for the Museum.

It was great seeing you and Sum again, Joe. Keep well and God bless you
both.

Nigel

(I agree that the Knaggs documentation should be included. The editor)

Dear Nigel,

Although grossly overweight, I was fortunate to be able to bring the packages to Trinidad. I called Gary Mathews three times since returning to arrange to hand it over and he hasn't responded.
I also spoke to "Specks" who should have someone collect it on Friday.
Given the present relationship with the monastery, the fact that the museum will be theirs (under their control and direction) and the uncertain future of the community.
I asked Specks to be clear when handing the items over that they are on loan, remain the property of the ASAA and that we should receive and indemnity against their loss damage or theft.
Sincerely,
Joe

So, what's the latest re. the package of stuff you were trying to take into Trinidad?
Any luck?
Or did you leave everything here in TO?
Please advise.

Sounds like a go!
I have no objections, the fabulous journey through my days there, are embedded in my memories of my six years there.
But of course, I mostly keep in touch with those with whom I shared those years; and I have been up there sharing with the 'new boys' my adventures and exciting years there, especially Scouting with Fr. Ildefons; who had three of the First King Scouts from Mount (myself, Ray deCambra & Trevor Evelyn  (and there was also one other King Scout from a South Group in Gasparillo).
I have a lot of experiences & stories I could try and share (as I was known as Crazy Knaggs or Scroongie... not too sure what it meant); I better give it a try, as my memory is gently fading. I am also having quite a lot of medical challenges (old age).
Who knows.
As ever Art

Arthur,
You raise an interesting thought - is it really worth it to propose a small Museum to house artifacts based on the 42 years existence of a relatively unknown school at Mt. St. Benedict?

I'd love to know what the rest of the OB's think about the matter. Maybe Ladislao can ask everyone to respond, in his next Circular.

For my part, it really doesn't matter very much. We were never important enough to be remembered for anything (or so the general public might think), but we did turn out a number of good men who, until today, still make valuable contributions wherever life has led them.

The school supposedly began in 1944 and closed in 1986. That was 26 years ago, when the doors were shut, and the youngest boys at the Abbey School would then have been, say, 11 years of age at the time. Therefore, by 2012, those boys would now be 11 + 26 = 37 years of age. Assuming that they / some of them live to 70, then a museum of any sort would be interesting only to those survivors for the next 33 years. But then there are all our kids, who themselves might like to research what their fathers did in the mid 1900's, and a museum of such a sort could be invaluable.

I think I'd side with the "YES" party, in favour of a Museum.

Laz,

Eddie Lloyd has asked me to pass on this sad news of his brother's death in Vancouver on 14/7/2012.
Would you please help him to pass the word on to the rest of the MSB Old Boys?
I've already responded privately to his note to me.
Others may wish to do the same.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Nigel
Betty and I are Vancouver at the moment.
My younger brother Maurice expired yesterday 14/07/12 after having gone into a coma last Sunday.
He suffered badly with COPD.
Too young at 64, but the Lord wanted him more than us.
We turned off his life support just after we arrived from the UK but he managed to survive for 24 hrs and went peacefully in the end.
Could you put this note on the MSB newsletter as he stayed in touch with some of his old class mates.
With best wishes.

Whoever knew that Pete Seeger himself was one of the first to introduce steelbands to the American public? Well, here's the proof, from 56 years ago.

This may bring back memories or some, while others may find it very educational.  The good old days.  Enjoy!!

A genuine classic.

This 15 minute youtube video presents Pete Seeger (who wrote a manual for playing steel drums) visiting steel drum makers and players in Trinidad in 1956.

Watch all of it!

A well-deserved tribute to the tremendous talent, energy, perseverance and skill of the old-time pan makers and players in T&T. Especially Kim Loy Wong.

And to Pete Seeger, a real pioneer of pan in the U.S.

You may know someone or of someone in this film from 56 years ago.

Hope you enjoy it.

Nigel

------------------------------------------------------------------.
Joe and Sum,

It was so nice seeing you again last night at David and Debbie Johnson's home. Thanks for the cooking lesson. I'm going to have to start soaping my chives.

I'm very happy with the fact that you have agreed to carry with you the items provided by Terrence Ferreira and the photographs supplied by Trevor Evelyn, and intended, hopefully, for any eventual MSB Abbey School Museum which might be set up in Trinidad. Here are some photographs of the items you're taking with you, in order to help you get through the Trinidad Customs at Piarco.

I understand that you will pass these items on to Michael D'Ornellas and Gary Matthews, who I'm told are most involved in discussing / implementing the proposed Museum plans.

Michael and Gary,

I'm sending you a few items you'll remember, and which have been provided by some of the Old Boys in Ontario and (Terrence Ferreira) New Jersey.

Good luck to you all, and let's see the Museum come alive one day.

God bless you, everyone.
