Subject: A WEEK-END OF REFLECTION.
I just got back from Toronto a few weeks ago and it’s too close to Christmas to attend the Roti Lime.
I stay in Nova Scotia with the Kids for Christmas.
It’s the only time I want it to snow ha! ha!
Anyhow my point was, if I lived in Toronto, I would send a note or a call, or make some kind of contact.
Yes I would like to attend or no I am unable to attend.
No big deal, its just saying to us, you are still out there, because I do care as half of the guys that don't reply, are on my list ha! ha! So I know they are there, some where in Cyber Space of course.
A fact- There are over 60 knights reading this email, right now, if you send ah joke, everybody laugh ha! ha! then ah big hush. Like if they shy.
If is one thing for sure, this Club will keep you amused, ha! ha!
George, I like the one about the thief on the mount in your time.
Well during my time, (1968-73) Man ah lost count of the thieves, is the kleptomaniacs I was worried about ha! ha! some stories I would love to tell yuh man, but due to the Club rules, I cannot call names or write any thing that may cause any harm to a fellow mount boy, however in a Circle of Knights, we can share our secrets in confidence, we remain invisible, no comments as we listen carefully, ha! ha!
Oh yeah George, About the 2014 Great Reunion, Bandit saying now, he will only stay in a really nice hotel like the ones in Florida, so this would have to be the best hotel in Trinidad.
o.k. I am offering to stay in the same hotel, I guess, there will be a lot of couples, that could really put the numbers up, for discount bookings eh? whatever, I know me and Bandit will end up fighting, if we in the same hotel ha! ha!,
After the reunion in Trinidad, Ah going to Margarita, ha! ha!.

Hi Nigel,
I will for sure.
You must have met her over the years you were in New Lands / Galeota.
As a matter of fact, I have lands in Galeota that I want to sell.
I understand that the Gov't., is rebuilding the BP Amoco Pier in Galeota with the idea that all Oil and Gas related business in Trinidad will be relocated to Galeota.
That of course with the exception of Point a Pierre etc. on the South Side.
This could also all be talk.
I will try to meet with Harry again to see if he can do anything.
I did ask Clifford Campbell to meet with him but I am not sure if that happened.
Stanley lives in Brampton and owns an auto parts supply business called GTA Auto Parts Ph: 866-264-7278.
I sent my son to pick up a part for his car there and he called me from the shop asking if I knew a Stanley Achong.
That's how will reconnected.
As for Arthur. Went to see a condo here in Burlington and a Joan Hing King was the listing agent.
Didn't know her before but soon found out that she was Arthur's wife.
He lives in Oakville.
Don't have his number but can get it from Joan.
Small world isn't it??

Gerry,
Thanks for the note.
Sorry you won't make it.
Say "Hi" to your mom for me, when you see her.
I know that both Stanley and Arthur art MSB OBs, but my limited information says that Stanley lives in Whitby (is that so?) and I know nothing at all about Arthur.
Would you be able to let me have his email address, please?
Thanks a million.
Have a great visit to T'dad.

Dave,
Thank you for sending me the info I'd requested as to your address when you're in Ontario.
So, here it is, you guys - Bandit is visiting the GTA in December and we're trying to have a little get-together with him at Rotilicious in Ajax on Dec 21st.
I've invited everyone to consider taking on this job of arranging the evening, but so far, there have been no takers so I'll do it myself.
PLEASE DROP ME A NOTE AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN MAKE IT.
If anyone coming to Ajax that evening (Dec 21st) would be willing and able to pick up David de Castro at 87 Dorset Rd., Scarborough, ON M1M 2S9 (Tel: 416-266-4738 - HOME or 416-994-4378 -CELL ) and give him a lift to Ajax when you're coming, I'd sure appreciate it.
EVEN IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT, PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL AND LET ME KNOW.
Gracias.

David,
Please let me know the address at which you'll be staying and I'll see what I can do to get you a ride to Rotilicious.
I'm going to say Friday 21st - I think it's easier for the guys to find time on Friday evening, rather than Wednesday.
When you send me the address, I'll send out a call for a volunteer.

Hi Freddie,
Man, I'm sorry.
I should have added you to the Ontario OB's since your emigration to Ontario last June, but, shucks, I forgot to do so.
I'm sorry.
However, now that Cornel has brought this to my attention, I'm assuring you that I've now done the needful, and you're now listed among the Canadians in Ontario.
With that in mind, let me now send you an email I sent out yesterday to the Ontario OB's. Here it is:
===========------------------------------------========
Gentlemen,
I hope that you're all in good health, and that the coming winter will be a mild one for each of us.
I hope too, that you all had a wonderful Summer and are also enjoying this mild Fall.
And now comes Christmas, and with it, the arrival into Toronto of David de Castro (aka the Calypso Bandit) all the way from sunny Florida.
Bandit is coming to visit his family and friends, and it would be nice if a few of us could get together with him to meet the Original Calypso King of Ontario / Canada and to share a roti or doubles and a Carib.
However, the purpose of this note is to let you know that Bandit has written and published a book of his personal memoirs, which, among other things, incorporates stories of his life at MSB, his subsequent career as a kaiso-man, his involvement with Emil Straker (who went on to be an important member of the Merrymen of B'dos), and his continuing involvement with the calypso community back home.
Bandit will be bringing with him a few copies of his book, and he'd be willing to part with each of them for a few Canadian bucks. ($10.00).
Anyway, if anyone is interested in getting a copy, please do yourself a big favour and contact him directly by email ( calypsobandit@live.com ) or by telephone (1-727-785-6824).
And if anyone would like to get together for that roti, please let me know, and I'll see what I can do (No promises, OK?)
Adios.
Nigel
===================--------------------------------------------
Since sending out that note, two guys have already responded to say that they'd like to have one of Bandit's books.
So, Dave, please keep track of these emails and bring enough books with you.
ALSO, since it seems that a roti-evening is becoming necessary, it would help, for planning purposes, if you could please give me a realistic date and time when you'll be available and committed to spend a few hours with your MSB buddies, a roti and a Carib.
If anyone feels he'd like to plan the evening, be my guest.
If no-one wishes to volunteer, I hope you don't mind if I do it (somebody needs to do it), and in such a case, Rotilicious is where I'll be heading.
Again, feel free to offer your help, choose a venue, make the arrangements, and, God willing, we'll join you there.
Nigel

Hello Nigel,
I received an email from you (a forwarded message) regarding Mr. Bandit coming up for a visit and would like to join us for a Roti and to heave a Carib.
Please let me know when this is going to take place and where.
By the way, lest I forget, I promised "Freddy" Freytes to let him know of any future "get-togethers".
He missed the 100th celebration at David and Debbie, and I believe he felt left out.
Maybe you could give him a heads up.
Best regards to Jackie,

Dear Friends,
About the organization of events, remember that we should not expect too much, because we may get disillusioned and give up easily.
I have had experience as some of others who have made an effort in time and money to gather oldboys, many are invited, many promise to attend and when the day comes, those who beat their chest are the least likely to attend and missing at the reunion, jajaja.
This is ok when there is no real financial commitment by the organizer to third parties.
But when you are going to organize something like the 2014 reunion, things can get out of control, so I suggest that the organizer be given a hand.
By asking those that reserve a place in the festivities with a deposit, let’s say for the hotel accommodations, food, etc, that would be forfeited if the person does not show up,
We say, let the money talk, this would separate the revelliers and the dreamers,

Dear Jon,
Thank you for your Christmas Greetings, a time for Jesus not Santa ha! ha!
I pray we leave this sad month soon and start all over with a new year, and a new chapter in our Club.
The union that is going on now is wonderful, the support to each other in so many ways.
This Union means a lot more to me, more than a Reunion, however I support whatever that will draw us together in a positive way.
I don't know if it’s a age thing or what, but many are seeking to make contact.
Jon, I wish you and your family a peaceful and loving Christmas, and the best of health in the New Year, and looking forward to your continued support, in sharing and helping us, in this our little Club.
Sending you our love,
Glen McKoy & Marian Dempsey. (Nova Scotia, Canada).

Greetings and best Christmas wishes to you all.
Christmas is a time for giving, but more in spirit and love - than in lovely presents and liquid spirits (Although they help with the first part!!)
May the New Year bring us blessings we will deserve if we help those who deserve but cannot help themselves.
Let us also remember in our prayers those parents whose little ones will not be there to share this Christmas with them or any other!
Wishing all my Mount brothers a healthy, meaningful and happy new year!
Warm regards
Jon Golding

I am now retired and looking after the grandchildren.
I live at 4 Seaside Ave, Waterview, Auckland, New Zealand 1026

Hi Nigel,
David was known as Big Beam,
They said he looked like someone from a comic strip in the papers and I was called Small Beam.
David died 10 years ago from stomach cancer in Canada was buried in Barbados next to the Grandparents.
A happy New Year to your Family
Simon
----------------------------------------------------------------------------.
I believe Simon had only one older brother, David.
Simon was in my graduation class of 1963.
I heard they both immigrated to Australia after the family sold the DaCosta store in Barbados.
The data base has David graduating in 1961 and dying in 1999.

Nigel

I was so sorry to hear from Glen that your mother died today.
Maggie and my hearts go out to you and your family.
I know it must happen to all of us inevitably.
But, it must be especially hard for a man to lose his mother.
There is a very special bond there that is as ineffable as it is timeless.
Sincerely,

I was in the same dorm as Simon since we were in the same class but I don't remember this incident.
You sure that this is not another lottery win George? Just funning.
Do any of you guys remember that I was pole vaulting and broke my hand and was sent to the dorm around 2 PM on a Sunday to be greeted with the spectacle of Father Eugene doing pull ups outside his room,
I told the guys and that night most of the boys in the dorm were doing pull ups on the bar above their cubicle entrance thereby mama guying Eugene?
It was hilarious.

Neil,
Many of the older brothers did not have Cutty, Odo or Augustine, just like many of the monks they had at their time we don't know.
So this is a big reason many of the really older boys you may not see.
Remember their were little or no organization on that last event, and in order to get most to attend anything, we need a lot of networking, and the networking is where we need Ladislao, Nigel, Don, Jon, George, Bandit, and some older brothers involved, if older brothers are not part of the association, and those who are, they have must call out the brothers from their time.
What I am seeing is the same brothers from the same circles, around 1967 to 1972 who was on the the mount the same time, we need a united front of many more circles coming together, under one body.
We have been trying to get a united front for two years, and keep hitting a brick wall.
Neil the 200 guys are fellas that wrote to the Circular, than have contributed in many other ways that are not seen.
All the guys in the 3 Toronto reunions were not there, so Neil doesn’t judge to harshly.
Cheers mis amigos, just another day in the Club, Adios –

Cheers Nigel,
A few observations to clarify, Terence is the one who identified Michael King, I still have a complete mental block about him,
Clyde is a dear friend, always has been and I guess he always will be, but we are not related, in this regard and for accuracy you will have to modify your records since you have us as family.
Terry John [spoof] is my father's brother [my uncle] he is still alive and living here in Guyana, I will endeavor to see if he has an email address, Joseph you already know is my brother and lives here in Guyana and so does Michael.
I will get their emails [if they have one] for you, I see all of them quite regularly, weekly in fact, and so it is has not been necessary to email each other and we have never done so.
They are businessmen and I am more into media and politics so we share very little in common, hence possibly no emailing to share information between us.
Now that I think of it, it’s funny.
There was one guy who was close to me like I am close to Eddy Lloyd and Clyde from the college, I was best man at his wedding [he married a Guyanese Girl] I am talking about Brendon Gurley we used to call him 5-Head since his forehead was quite large, he crashed it into something a few years ago riding a motorcycle and did not survive.
I am off to Miami on business tomorrow, nothing else would take me away from my family at this time, I am returning on Christmas night.
Hell of a way to spend the holidays. but as soon as I return I will find out what the emails of the guys are in the case of Joseph [and I know you will tell me again that I don't study the database]
Leon Alves if he is still around may be interested in finding out about Joe, they were big pals do you remember that the two of them rolled a huge stone from the hill going to the refectory and knocked all of the Pax bee hives off the hill?
We had no movie, if I recall accurately, for a month after that little stunt.
I left the mount in 1963/64 I really don't recall accurately.
I know that I entered the University of Guyana in 1965.
I was in the same class as Eddy LLoyd, Michael Azar and Claude Ho.
